The populations that settled in today’s Val Resia in the 7th century have handed down their particular culture and language to this day due to the marked isolation. Originally this nomadic population of proto-slave origins settled in the valley and kept intact, without external contamination, the dialect (divided into several dialects) which is therefore very special but above all a very rare genetic heritage in Europe.
